Nafeesah Harrison

Nafeesah is the Inclusive Connection and Healing Coordinator at Buncombe County, with over 18 years of experience in Mental Health, Substance Use, and Behavioral Health. She received her Bachelors in Psychology at Johnson C. Smith University in 1999 and her Masters in Human Services-Community Counseling Psychology in 2008.
Nafeesah began her journey in the field as a residential counselor in a group home setting providing assistance teaching individual living skills to adults with mental illness diagnosis. From there, Nafeesah have provided services as a case manager for women in substance use treatment participating in drug treatment court, as a Program Manager overseeing 9 residential programs for mentally ill adults, and provided community based services, intensive in-home counseling, and multisystemic therapy to address mental health, substance use, and behavioral health symptoms in the home, school, and community.
Nafeesah became certified as a Yoga Instructor in November 2021 through Kula Yoga Teacher Training (KYTT) and in August 2022, Nafeesah started the Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling (LCMHC) Program at Montreat College. Nafeesah is also registered with the North Carolina Addiction Specialist Professional Practice Board and is a member of Chi Sigma Iota.
